Biography

Kelly McQueen, MD, MPH is the Ralph M Waters Distinguished Chair in Anesthesiology, and a Professor of Anesthesiology in Madison, Wisconsin. Previously she served as Professor of Anesthesiology and Surgery at Vanderbilt University, where she also directed Global Anesthesia Programs and Development, and the Global Anesthesia Fellowship. Kelly was the founder and inaugural President of the Alliance for Surgery and Anesthesia Presence (ASAP), an integrated society of the International Society of Surgeons. She has been honored with awards from Colorado College, the Arizona Medical Association, the International College of Surgeons, the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists for her career long commitment to global service and humanitarian aid. Dr. McQueen served as an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow 2000-2001, and as an Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Fellow 2022-2023. She also served on the Executive Board of the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes Group (MPOG) 2022-2025, on the Leadership Council for the Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM) 2021-2025, and on the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation Board of Directors 2022-2024. She currently serves at the International Society of Surgery Global Health Affairs Committee Chair.
